This book was delightful. The story is cleverly crafted around the cheese loving world of mice and rats. The adventures the characters have were super fun and exciting. The dialogue was somehow really whimsical and yet super authentic to the story world and really made you feel like you were deep into the story. From creative kid friendly cursing to ship cargo holds full of gold cheese and casks full of root beer this rich rodent world was really fun to have adventures in.
There was some beautiful writing in this book too. Even though it was written for child readers there's a lot to appreciate and enjoy for older readers too. The author has a clear command of English and the workings of all things nautical. Those mice knew their shipboard stuff! It was a whole lot of fun and very well written.
The Cheese Pirates was adventurous, thrilling, and funny. I loved the book, and I hope they make a movie!!

Love the characters and the adventures. Read this book with my 9 year old daughter and we both hope that there will be a sequel coming soon!
When christina 1st sent me the 1st 2 chapters to read I was captivated at the 1st sentence. I waited impatiently for the book to come out. It is not often anymore at least to me, that a book can capture you on the 1st sentence. She will rank up there with C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Lackey, Aule I could go on and on. Can not wait for the next book and hope disney picks this up for a movie, for make no mistake it is movie worthy.
What a wonderful book. A great read-a-loud book for all you parents that want to spend time with your child and spur their imagination. A first chapter book for those children that want to do it on their own or can't wait for mom or dad to read more. Hopefully, Ms. Lewis continues to the series I can't wait to hear more about the Cheese Pirates.
what an amazing book. The book constantly held my interest. I just loved how it was written. I will keep an eye out for more books written by Christina Lewis. You will not be disappointed in this delightful book.
This is one of the cutest novels of I have read. To me this story was like "An American Tail" but it was least traumatizing and took place mainly at sea. The action was packed and the plot had a good and steady pace that really kept my attention. What really captivated me was how Christina Lewis used her words to paint such beautiful imagery, I could picture the settings in my head clearly and get the understanding of the situation. If Lewis were to write a text book I honestly believe that it would be a more enjoyable one rather than the usual history book. I recommend "The Cheese Pirates" to all that has or knows a kids that loves talking animals, adventures in the sea, and cheese.
